There is a natural slope where your guests can stand and watch the ceremony and a few chairs can be set up to form an isle for the bride to be to walk down. I’d recommend shade tents if its going to be a long ceremony and in one of the warmer months, so that your guests can enjoy the ceremony.

The last wedding I shot there had sun, cloud and rain but wasnt too hot so no shades were required. For the couple that got married it was an ideal spot for a wedding as they are from the northern beaches as are their friends and family and they were able to get married at a location which is special to them.

For me as a wedding photographer it was great also as special locations like this can make special wedding photographs especially if the conditions are right.

Wedding Photography on the Hawkesbury River

If you want beautiful wedding photos, it’s important to have a beautiful location, the hawkesbury river is one of the most beautiful wedding locations I have seen.

One of the things I liked about the hawkesbury is that you feel like you are in the middle of no where enjoying the surroundings of green hilly forest and a great expanse of water, no traffic, no other buildings, just you, your partner and your guests. The Hawkesbury River is a wonderful place for wedding photography. And with many venues catering for weddings it is also a great place to hold your ceremony and reception.

The wedding I photographed was a short fun boat ride from wisemans ferry. Once there it was like stepping onto an Island paradise with tropical flowers, palms and an amazing back drop. The ceremony and reception was all located in one place so that the guests could relax upon arrival. Once the ceremony and celebrations were over the reception organised a party boat for those that wanted to carry on into the night and river taxi’s to get back to wisemans ferry. I stayed at the local pub which has clean rooms (recently decorated) at a reasonable rate above the bar.

You’re getting married in Sydney and you need to find yourself a wedding photographer. The good news is there are plenty of wedding photographers in Sydney, the bad news is the choice of Sydney Wedding photography is making it very hard to find the right Sydney Wedding photographer.

Let’s have a look at your options:

The big Studio sydney wedding photography outfit. They often have a number of wedding photographers working for them as well as assistants, sales people, marketing people, re-touchers editing the photos and a shop front you can visit. They will normally have a wide product range for you to choose from also. Depending on which studio you choose you can get what you are looking for but it will normally come at a premium cost wise as they have a lot of overheads they need to cover to make a profit.

Small Wedding Studio/Home Studio. These Sydney wedding photographers will generally have one central person who is main photographer, re-toucher, sales person and marketer rolled into one. They may also have a couple of other wedding photographers that freelance for them. This can be a more cost effective option for you as often these sydney wedding photographers will have lower overheads meaning that they can charge more reasonable rates and still provide you with professional Sydney Wedding Photography.

Amateur / Student Wedding photographer. This is often some one that is just entering the field of wedding photography and will have the confidence to advertise themselves for jobs. Some times they are looking to just build a portfolio to go on to bigger and better things and the cost of their services can be nil to very cheap depending on the individual. If price is the biggest factor for you, then you will need to check their previous Sydney wedding photography work and make sure you are comfortable that they have the ability to do an accomplished job for you on your wedding day.

 He’s got down on one knee and proposed to you with a shiny diamond ring, you’ve said yes and the initial rush of excitement and emotions have now settled down and you are now planning the big day. Dress, rings, reception, flowers, food, DJ, wedding photography….. Wedding photography, so where do you start and what are your options when it comes to wedding photography? Lets have a look at the history of wedding photography. Photography started in 1826 by a Frenchman named Joseph Nicéphore Niépce, but it wasn’t until late 19^th century that photographers started appearing at weddings with bulky cameras and lighting equipment to essentially take a portrait of the bride and groom and maybe a group portrait of the guests.

 Technology changed all this, film improved, cameras reduced in size and photographs were able to be taken with out the use of a tripod. This allowed photographers to capture the actual ceremony and the goings on of the day.

 There are two main types of wedding photography, traditional and photojournalistic. Traditional wedding photography is a more classical approach where the photographer directs a lot of the shots and most of the shots are posed. Photojournalistic wedding photography focuses on candid and un-posed photography, so that you essentially have a photographer with you on the day who is capturing the day as it happens with little interaction.

Manly Wedding Photography Location Shoot at Collins Flat beach

Fairy Bower is a short 10 to 15 minute leisurely stroll from the Manly Corso. Once there you are on one of the most picturesque small beaches, with calm waters, rocks, a green back drop and up market restaurant for your reception. This is an ideal location for wedding photography. Its intimate feel and beach that faces west to north west can be perfect for wedding photography in Manly around sun set. 

Then there is fairlight. There is a long walk in between Manly and the Spit Bridge which follows the coast. Along that walk and not far from manly is Fairlight. Situated on the harbour side of Manly it has many small picturesque beaches along the way that can make beautiful back drops for your wedding location shoot. 

Little known Collins Flat Beach can be hard for parking, from memory I think there is only 3 or 4 spaces. Might be a good place for your chauffer to drop you both off at with the bridal party and your wedding photographer. After a short walk through a beautiful woodland, across a small bridge over a stream you arrive at this little known beach and you have it all to yourself but for one or two locals. This is possibly my favourite spot for Manly wedding photography.
